As my business endeavors begin getting more serious, I’ve been considering forming an LLC to protect personal assets and establish a business entity.  There’s a number of benefits of forming an LLC other than liability reasons, but that’s pretty much the main reason.  Even though I don’t promote any rebills, all the big corporations (Google, Ophrah, etc..) coming after the little affiliate marketers makes me a little nervous.  After all, I don’t want that bitch Oprah taking my ’89 Honda Accord, right?

Fuck you California

Anyway, I started doing some research on forming my LLC and found some great resources for making it happen (filing forms, registered agents to accept business documents, etc..).  Apparently it’s pretty common for people to form LLC’s outside of their resident state for tax purposes – great news.

However, after digging a little deeper, I discovered that California has an outrageous annual franchise tax of $800.  Are they fucking joking?  My posse isn’t on broadway yet, and the thought of having to pay over $66/mo just to have a business is fucking insane.  The kicker to this is that if you register your LLC in a more tax-friendly state (Delaware, Nevada, Wyoming, etc..), California still sticks you for the $800 since you’re a resident.  Doesn’t matter if your business pulls in $10 or $1,000,000 annually, you still pay the $800.

I love the sunshine state and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else…  I know were hurting for money, but Arnold needs to buck up and get back to his republican roots and start cutting these types of fees and taxes down.  At least pro-rate that shit on how much your business makes.  aiiiight?
